Day 13 – Apprentices at the Swiss Consulate
The 13th day of our journey followed a typical workday routine. In the morning, most of us were engaged in remote work tasks from our accommodation. However, this day held a special plan in the afternoon: a visit to the Swiss Consulate in New York City. It was an eagerly awaited event, and after enjoying our midday meal, we eagerly set off for the consulate.
Upon our arrival at the Swiss Consulate, we were warmly welcomed by Salome, who had organized our visit. She then directed us to a meeting room where we would have our scheduled appointment. It was in this professional setting that we learned about an exciting project involving our group member, Dila.
Dila, a mediamatician traveling with our group, was set to embark on a important task for the Swiss Consulate. She had been entrusted with the responsibility of creating a video for social media, specifically for Instagram. This video project aimed to shed light on different aspects of women in the field of information and communication technology (ICT).
This project was both exciting and significant, as it represented an opportunity to highlight the achievements and contributions of women in the ICT sector, promoting their presence and impact in the field. Dila’s creative skills and expertise would play a vital role in bringing this vision to life.
Our visit to the Swiss Consulate provided us with valuable insights into this innovative initiative, and it served as an inspiring example of the meaningful work that can take place at the intersection of technology, media, and diplomacy. This day marked an important step in our journey, as we continued to learn, collaborate, and contribute to diverse and meaningful projects in the vibrant city of New York.
Following our visit to the Swiss Consulate, we continued our day by making our way to the iconic Grand Central Station. We decided to grab lunch at this bustling transportation hub before embarking on our next adventure.
Lunch at Grand Central Station provided a unique experience, surrounded by the station’s historic and elegant architecture. We relished our midday meal, savoring the delicious flavors as we anticipated the next part of our day’s journey.
Our destination for the afternoon was Harlem, and after lunch, we took a train to reach this vibrant neighborhood. Upon arrival, we wasted no time and began by freshening up. We showered and got ready, ensuring we looked our best for the evening’s plans.
Originally, we had intended to visit Chinatown for dinner. However, as often happens with spontaneous city explorations, we found ourselves in a beautiful Japanese ramen restaurant instead. This unplanned dining choice turned out to be a delightful surprise. The restaurant’s ambiance and delicious food added to the overall enjoyment of our evening. The Japanese ramen, known for its savory broths and flavorful noodles, satisfied our taste buds and created a memorable culinary experience.
With full stomachs and happy hearts, we concluded our evening in the lively restaurant before heading back to our accommodation. It had been a fun and engaging day, filled with unexpected twists and delicious culinary discoveries. After returning home, we retired to our beds, savoring the memories of yet another eventful day in New York.
